I just installed this, no problems, I’m very happy with it. I was going to buy the 8000 BTU model FAA086P7A just above it, but the reviews were very negative due to noise. This unit is quiet, and 6000 BTU turns out to be more than enough for my application. Technically, this may be a discontinued model, as the Frigidaire website lists FAA065P7A at the time I purchased this. The latter unit, which is still available through Amazon sellers but not via Amzn Prime, has a slightly higher EER of 10.7 (vs 9.7 for this). If there is any other difference, I can’t see it in the pictures or the description. This is a good unit, with some sophisticated features, like a fan that senses sudden changes in temperature, as when a door opens, in which case it automatically blows harder to cool down the room. Pretty nifty. It has a quality build, with a nicely finished steel cabinet with thick enamel finish. The remote is easy to use and works well. Most important, the unit cools well, and does so quietly. I do recommend it.

I bought this little window unit to put in our living room to supplement our central AC. Our central AC unit is probably undersized for our house and during the 95F + summer days, it just can’t keep up. Our living room is the farthest room from the central AC unit,gets full exposure to the sun, and we have a large plasma TV that generates some heat, so during the summer the room can get too warm. This little window unit has a done a great job keeping the room not only comfortable, but very cool. Since this unit is in our entertainment room, I was concerned about a window unit being too noisy and sounding like a jet engine and drowning out our surround sound set up. This unit is actually pretty quiet. It has several different settings, but we always use it in energy saving mode, with the fan set to auto.br /br /The installation instructions and especially the installation pictures leave a lot to be desired. But despite that, I highly recommend this unit if you just need to cool one room.
