I have not used all the Opteka HD2 filters yet, just the polarization one. I was pleased with the results. My reason for the 4-star rating is the fact that the filters do not seem to thread onto my Fuji S5000 very securely. I am afraid they will fall off.

Opteka HD² 55mm R72 720nm Infrared X-Ray IR Filter Overviews

Opteka specializes in manufacturing special optical devices for the past several years, would like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly developed product called the “HD² Infrared X-Ray Effect See-Through Multi-Coated Filter”. This filter makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn’t; this fantastic new product has been developed using the most highly advanced optical technologies available. This filter will filter out 99% of light seen by the naked eye only allowing infrared light through so that technically the naked eye can see 100% black when the filter is in place. Multi-coating prevents light reflection, ghost light…etc, making images clearer and sharper. On your digital camcorder, turn the “Nightshot” function on – the naked eye cannot pick up the high contrast black, so with the infrared filter and Nightshot combination, for example, it will help you see in the images provided, that we ‘accidentally’ spilt some permanent ink on this document and the text is now impossible to read. However, when we attached the filter to our Sony ‘TR250PK’ camcorder, the writing is clearly legible through the ink – thus the x-ray effect! The Opteka IR Filter is also able to see through some types of clothes, for example, thin clothes, tight clothes, sundresses, swimsuits, sunglasses, and so forth. Be aware that this means that you can see a person’s body or underwear through the external garment. In other words, this filter allows you to “see through” someone’s clothes. I recently got this for my Panasonic DMC-FZ50. The 55mm thread fits perfectly on the lens. br /br /The filter does what’s supposed to do. I was a bit skeptical of buying it because of a couple of false advertisement pictures (yes, this filter won’t allow you to look through people’s clothing!) br /br /Now, on what I was expecting: The amount of light required to take a picture it’s long, therefore, to use this on people you’ll need to have a lot of light and high sensibility modes. However, given that pictures require so much light, it makes easier to take pictures of “movement” (i.e. waterfalls, ponds, etc). br /br /I’ve enjoyed the filter and had some fun with different shots.

The UV filter makes a subtle difference except on humid days, where it really helps filter out haze.br /br /The polarizing filter is better replaced with a circular polarizing filter for easier adjustment.br /br /I have limited use for the Fluorescent filter, but it helps mute that alien green tint from normal tubes.br /br /I’d recommend just getting a UV filter and leaving it on as a protector, then getting the circ pol lense when needed rather than this kit.

This is a decent polarizing filter. The lens rotates to allow for you to adjust which light you dont want t appear in the shot. Works great for shooting fish in ponds or capturing people on the water at the beach.br /br /One interesting problem I had is this is for my SOny Alpha. THe auto zoom feature of the camera rotates which throws on the the circular filter I just adjusted. Have to make all focus adjustments then adjust the filter ring.
